The Sacred

To be at the core of existence—

Perhaps it is a lifelong quest of something that cannot be found, only experienced.
Maybe my foremost reason for travelling to Japan in 1991 was Zen Buddhism. Somehow, I imagined Japan as a giant sanctuary devoted to finding enlightenment.

Of course, what I found was far from what I imagined. Nevertheless, my journey took me to innumerable manifestations of the sacred. The discovery of unexpected sanctuaries big and small inspired this series.
